Wycheproof is located 277km northwest of Melbourne and 136km from Bendigo on the Calder Highway.
Population: Approximately 635
It is one of three towns in Australia with a ‘street running’ train line, it is quite a unique town to visit.
It is a service town for the surrounding cereal-growing properties and is famous for the world’s smallest registered mountain Mt Wycheproof, which soars 43m above the surrounding plain.
Wycheproof has a proud sporting history. With its neighbouring township Narraport, Wycheproof has a football/netball club (Wycheproof-Narraport) competing in the North Central Football Netball League.
The town has a horse racing club, Mt Wycheproof & District Racing Club, who’s once a year meeting is the Mount Wycheproof Cup held on Victoria Derby Day in late October or early November.

Warracknabeal is situated along the Wimmera River, 330km northwest of Melbourne, offering scenic riverside walks, picnics, and a range of water activities.

Cohuna
Cohuna is located 274km north of Melbourne, on the Murray Valley Highway.
Population: Approximately 2,300
Cohuna is celebrated for its scenic Gunbower Creek, renowned for fishing, kayaking, and birdwatching, making it a central recreational spot for locals and visitors alike.
The well-maintained Cohuna Golf Club draws golf enthusiasts with its picturesque views of the natural landscape.

Hopetoun
Hopetoun is located 400km north-west of Melbourne on the Henty Highway in the Shire of Yarriambiack. It is the major service centre for the Southern Mallee area of Victoria, Australia.
Population: Approximately 560

Boort
Located next to Lake Boort, in the Shire of Loddon. The town is well known for its native birdlife.
Population: Approximately 873
Main sources of employment are retail, olive processing & tourism. Agriculture is a major industry and employer in the Boort region. Produce includes cereal crops, tomatoes, canola, olives, hay & wool.
Boort is known as The Northern Oasis. Lake Boort is central to the town & is used for water sports, including skiing, sailing, duck hunting, fishing & swimming.
Boort has a local football/netball club (Boort Football Hockey Netball Club) and competes in the North Central Football Netball League.

Birchip
Birchip is a town in the Mallee region of Victoria, located on the Sunraysia Highway north of Donald.
Population: Approximately 702
5 main roads enter the town, located approximately 312kms north-west of Melbourne.
Birchip has a local football/netball club with neighbouring town Watchem (Birchip-Watchem) also known as the Birchip-Watchem Bulls and competes in the North Central Football Netball League.
The farms in the area typically grow wheat, barley, canola & other cereals. Some people have pig sheds, though most livestock in the district are sheep.

Woomelang
Woomelang is a town in the Mallee Region of Victoria, 359km north-west of Melbourne.
Population: Approximately 191
As with most towns in the Mallee region, the main industry is dryland agriculture & wool growing
An interesting attraction to the south of Woomelang is a shearing shed constructed during World War II. Due to wartime shortages, the shed is made of compacted kerosene tins.
With its neighbouring township Lascelles, Woomelang did have a football team (Woomelang-Lascelles) that competed in the Mallee Football League until the league folded at the end of the 2015 season.

Sea Lake
Sea Lake is a town in the Mallee district of north-west Victoria & is situated on the southern shores of Lake Tyrrell. The town is located on the Calder Highway 351km north-west of Melbourne.
Sea Lake is the heart of Australia’s wheat belt & is the main township for a number of wheat farms in the region.
Population: Approximately 640
Lake Tyrrell is the largest Salt Lake in Victoria, covering approximately 70 square miles. Much of the time Lake Tyrrell is dry however, the lake is occasionally fed by Tyrrell Creek. There is a salt extraction plant located in Sea Lake, processing the lake's salt deposits.
Sea Lake has a rich grain farming history & one of the first recorded stations in the area is Tyrrell Downs.
With its neighbouring townships Culgoa, Berriwillock & Nandaly, Sea Lake has a football/netball club (Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers) competing in the North Central Football League.

Kerang
Kerang is a rural town located on the Loddon River in northern Victoria. It is the commercial centre to an irrigation district based on livestock, horticulture, lucerne & grain. It is located 279km north-west of Melbourne on the Murray Valley Highway.
Population: Approximately 3893
It is home to the largest solar & battery farm in the country with was opened in June 2019. The 50-megawatt battery system is located just outside of Kerang & stores 100% renewable energy. The 2000 solar panels have become a tourist attraction & continue to draw many businesses to the town.
The town has a football/netball club (Kerang Football/Netball Club) competing in the Central Murray Football Netball League.
The town has a horse racing club (The Kerang Turf Club) which schedules 2 race meetings per year, including the Kerang Cup meeting held in March.
The wetlands surrounding Kerang are home to thousands of colourful & graceful waterbirds. Several of the larger lakes, including Kangaroo Lake & Lake Charm are popular with visitors for water sports, boating & fishing.

Ouyen
Ouyen is located in the Rural City of Mildura at the junction of the Calder Highway & Mallee Highway, 105km south of Mildura & 441km north-west of Melbourne.
Population: Approximately 1,045
Ouyen is the commercial, cultural & transport centre for the surrounding grain farming region. Trucks bring grain to the silos at harvest time to be railed to Adelaide, SA for shipping, or to flour mills for processing.
Ouyen is situated within a vast area of wheat fields & sheep grazing land. Wheat loading facilities and massive grain silos are a feature of the town. The Big Mallee Root, located on the Calder Highway, is the largest Mallee stump in Australia & serves as a tribute to early settlers who cleared the land of drought resistant eucalypt trees to make way for agricultural activities.
Ouyen has a football/netball club (Ouyen United) that competes in the Sunraysia Football Netball League.

Manangatang
Manangatang is a remote town in north-west Victoria. It is positioned on the Robinvale railway line. It is 412km north-west of Melbourne.
Population: Approximately 309
The local area consists mainly of farming, primarily wheat & sheep but also cows & birds.
The town in conjunction with nearby township Tooleybuc has a football/netball club (Tooleybuc-Manangatang Football Netball Club) competing in the Central Murray Football Netball League.
Manangatang has a horse racing club, Manangatang Racing Club, which holds 1 race meet per year – the Manangatang Cup meeting which us held on Guineas Day in October.
The town possesses Victoria’s smallest public hospital & nursing home, the town also has a combined high school & primary school, a preschool & a tennis club.

Robinvale
Robinvale is a town on the south bank of the Murray River in north-western Victoria. It is connected by a bridge to Euston on the other side of the river to NSW.
Population: Approximately 3,313
Robinvale is well known for its production of grapes, olives, carrots & almonds.
Robinvale is a popular camping area on the Murray River.
Robinvale hosts numerous sporting events, a tennis Easter tournament, football, cricket & the annual Robinvale Ski Race. The town has a local football/netball club (Robinvale Eagles) competing in the Sunraysia Football Netball League.
Rugby League is also played with local club Robinvale Storm participating in the Sunraysia Rugby League competition. Golfers play at the local course – Robinvale Golf Club, located on the Murray Valley Highway.

Balranald
Balranald is a town within the local government area of Balranald Shire, in the Riverina district of New South Wales. It is located where the Sturt Highway crosses the Murrumbidgee River in a remote, semi desert area.
Population: Approximately 1,159
Balranald is in Mutthi Mutthi traditional country. The area has a long history before non-indigenous settlement and a strong indigenous culture continues to this day.
Agricultural activities in the Balranald district include sheep farming, woodcutting, charcoal production & some areas of irrigated crop growing along the river. Balranald Shire is the location of Yanga National Park & World Heritage listed Mungo National Park.
The town has a local football/netball club (Balranald Football Netball Club) and competes in the Central Murray Football Netball League.

Berriwillock
Berriwillock is situated in the Mallee, North-western Victoria approximately halfway between Bendigo & Mildura on the Calder Highway, 70km west of Swan Hill & The Murray River.
Population: 184
A small town within the Buloke Shire, with a renowned wheat growing and farming community.
The Golden Crown Hotel, Post Office, Landmark (Farm Supplies Retailer) Grain Storage Facilities, Bowling Club, Tennis Club, Golf Club & Local Swimming Pool keep the small town on the map.
Green Lake, approximately 20km out of Berriwillock having been dry for a long period of drought, is now being filled via pipeline from the Murray River. The lake provides water sport, recreation, caravan & camping facilities.
The town is part of the Sea Lake Nandaly Football Netball Club.

Moulamein
Moulamein is located 855km south-west of Sydney via Yass, Wagga, Narrandera & Hay. It is 70km north-east of Swan Hill & 373km north of Melbourne. It is only 67m above sea level.
Population: Approximately 330
For visitors, one of the town's major attractions is the 12 ha Moulamein Lake which has extensive birdlife including black swans. The lake has views across to the grain silos, originally built in 1969 they can store 60,000 tonnes of grain.
The town has a local football/netball club (Moulamein Football Netball Club) competing in the Golden Rivers Football Netball League.

Underbool

Beulah is located in the Shire of Yarriambiack local government area, 395km north-west of the state capital, Melbourne.
